I am so shocked and finally getting into my thick skull that Charl passed away this last week. I saw one or two posts on Twitter but just couldn't quite grasp it.

I am so sorry to hear he had Cancer. I hope he didn't suffer too much.

What a wonderful gentleman. Always so supportive and respectful to me he was our Cafe Manhattan manager here in Cape Town for many years. He became part of the Capetonian family and did us so proud to win Mr Gay South Africa for us.

A Gentle soul, I jumped at the opportunity to work with him on his campaign for Mr Gay World. Charl organised me studio time to record my Diva ODIDIVA theme song exclusively to debut at his Health 4 Men Benefit. Now it will always stand as a testament to his understanding of saamwerking and bringing people together. 

Not born free but lived free or at least came to embody freedom.

My deep and sincere condolences to his family and friends.
