THE GAY SPORTS BLOG: Arse n al of the Year...

There are many reasons for The Gays to watch sport. The obvious reason is the sportmen themselves because they are fine male specimens  who are
"Physically Fit! Physically Fit, Physically-Physically, Physically Fit"
 and like to
 "...Move It, Move It "
to quote the infamous "MADAGASCAR" theme song by Reel2Real.

The nominations for THE GAYS SPORTS BLOG: Sportman of the Year are good looking and skillful bunch.
Here looks do matter but not more than their talent in their sporting codes. Bending the truth like Beckham, Screeching through on endorsements more than trophies like Sharapova, does not cut it. Excellence in forwarding universal Human Rights especially on the behalf of LGBTI community, gets you bonus points de jour.

Let at start at the Arse n al by congratulating our first nominees the Gunners of North London, F.A. Cup Winners  2013/2014.

I have to say it is simply fitting to have Aaron Ramsey score the winning goal, vindicating THE GAY SPORTS BLOG: Arse n all...:  "Who needs RVP when Aaron Ramsey is our MVP"

Aaron Ramsey became the new talisman for the Gunners this last season.
It was on the back Ramsey's 6 goals in seven matches that a new club goal record of 10 consecutive win in away matches, was created.
This put them on top of the English Premier League table for more than 120days.
The title race began to fall apart after he go injured around Christmas
Arsene Wenger’s men finished fourth, despite topping the Premier League table for more than 120 days this season. Their title challenge fell apart after Ramsey got injured after Christmas and the Welsh midfielder sat out more than three months of the campaign.

While Ramsey was nursing an injury , his sexy "fashionista" teammate Olivier Giroud was in the middle of a scandal.  Olivier Giroud became another typical shameful Playa.
He did the unremarkable act of cheating on his wife with a Page 3 model and was dumb enough to get caught with his pants down, literally.
In this day of the "Selfie" its no surprise the girl didn't bother with keeping her soiled skirt (ala Monica Lewinsky).
Why would she? When a picture is worth tens of thousands in the Pound Sterling.

A detail that did make the headlines and titillated THE GAY SPORTS BLOG to no end, is that he propositioned her with a 3 way with a fellow Gunners teammate. The question is whom?

Please say it was Podolski or Jackie Wilshire

The scandal did not help his form on the pitch which took a dip.  Getting thrashed 6-3 by eventual League Champions Manchester City, the team seemed to do the all too familiar implosion at the halfway mark of the English Premiership.

Even I had lost faith in Arsene Wenger as less us sang " In Wenger We Trust".
The prospect of a 9th year without any trophies looked imminent.Brought over from the 2011 Ligue 1 winners,  FC Montpellier, Olivier Giroud instantly became the new  Gunners "Glamour Boy" inheriting the "It" Factor Crown first worn by Freddie Ljunberg.
Like his trailblazing Norwegian predecessor Giroud had endeared himself to us by "dropping trou"(sers) on more than one occassion.

The French striker's Chef d Oevre, in this regard, was the his inclusion in the prestigious Dieux du Stade 2014 calender.
The French squad striker is lean with great muscle definition, high cheekbones and piercing blue eyes. Certainly tastiest Piece d'Resistance in Les Blues.

He has impressed in the fashion stakes taking suitable risks and creating trends, earning kudos from bloggers to editors.

The Fashionable French Flair of Olivier Giroud

Breaking Barriers between Straight & Gay Men

But I guess all the fame and fortune had got to  heOlivier Giroud's head, because he took the Page 3 model back to his hotel room the night before an important Manchester City match. The following day his performance on the pitch was so poor, he was removed at half time. The news of the marital faux pas exasperated fans even more and also resulted in the club fining him a cool 250 000 Pounds for insubordination.

Towards the end of the season it seemed Arsene Wenger was more concerned with fighting for the fourth place Champions League position than a trophy.

Alas, we pulled did through to the Final of the FA Cup.
There, in traditional Arse n al fashion; we came from behind to win 3-2 against Hull City. Our first trophy since 2005.

Olivier Giroud has since signed an endorsement deal as the face of Boss by Hugo Boss alongside Mario Gomez, Joe Hart, Claudio Machisio and THE GAY SPORTS BLOG favourite Sergio Ramos.

Sergio Ramos scored the Real Madrid's first goal during the Champions League final, as Real Madrid too came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 4-1.
This ended a Champions League trophy dry-spell of 11years and gave them the almost elusive milestone of La Decima.
Since legendary Zinedine Zidane's magnificent goal in 2002 gave them their 9th European Cup, Real Madrid fans, members and players have been dreaming of the mythical La Decima.
And with the Champions League Final in Lisbon it seemed like the stars had aligned to give Cristiano Ronaldo a fairytale ending to his incredible season.

If we believed in Classical Mythology as our religion, Cristiano Ronaldo would be the bastard son  of supreme god Zeus and a gorgeous peasant girl, he couldn't resist violating. So blessed is he with gifts and skills.

Before this season, Ronaldo had already been performing at extremely high levels,
scoring over 50 goals in each of the last three seasons.
Peaking at 60 goals in 55 games in the 2011-2012 season.
His over seasons haven’t been poor with the following stats:
33 goals in 35 games  2009-2010 season
53 goals in 54 games  2010-2011 season
55 goals in 55 games 2012-2013 season.
He has upped his game every season since being at Madrid and only the stunning performances of Lionel Messi stopped him from winning more Ballon D’or awards.

Ronaldo upped his game for club and country, this season, to show fans of the beautiful game just how good he really is.

In the 2013-2014 season Ronaldo blitzed his way to 51 goals in 47 games, including a competition record of 17 goals in the Champions League.
17 goals is a ridiculous amount of goals to score in the competition, especially since he missed two games through injury.
In the league he finished with 31 goals in 30 games, meaning yet again he scored more than a goal a game.

Ronaldo finished top of La Liga’s goal scorers list, three clear of superstar and rival Lionel Messi who alongside his Barcelona side had a forgettable season. Ronaldo also contributed nine assists in the La Liga season to add to his impressive stats.

This calendar season 2013-2014 saw Ronaldo also prove himself on the international stage scoring 12 goals in 10 games, which at international level is a very good goal scoring record. He dragged Portugal through to the World Cup after scoring three goals away at Sweden in the World Cup playoff second leg.
When his country needed him most he rose to the challenge and scored three stunning goals on the night, making himself the second highest goal scorer for the Portuguese national team.

Lastly on a personal note for Ronaldo, he as often spoke about and even got quite distressed over what he felt was a lack of respect towards him by some segments of the Spanish press due to their apparent favouritism towards Barcelona in his words. But after winning the Ballon D’or for 2013, Ronaldo was openly emotional when he received the award later claiming that this award meant a great deal to him both as a player and personally. Ronaldo did later go on to thank the press and fellow colleagues, firstly for his footballing colleagues voting for him and for the press congratulating him on the win. It was only fitting that Ronaldo’s arguably best season to date, was capped off with his second Champions League trophy and Madrid’s tenth. It was even more fitting he scored the last goal of the match, in his hometown Lisbon at his home team's stadium, just moments before the final whistle.
"I think that because I am rich, handsome and a great player people are envious of me," he said. "I don't have any other explanation."

I remember back in September 2011, how the world's sports press sneered in contempt at  Ronaldo's words. Today his words ring true sending ripples throughout the world of sport's biggest game.

In 2014 Ronaldo silenced his critics or at least left them whinging and muttering obscenities like  the deluded denialists that they are.

Now come, put your lips together, lick them nice and slow and say it with me :

SEXY OVER MESSI

Still on the subject of Cristiano Ronaldo, I must be excused as I digress...

Queen of the Catwalk, Naomi Campbell, in back in the limelight and centerstage as Excutive Producer and Mentor on  the modelling contest TV show, THE FACE USA, UK and Australia.

Currently in its second season in the US and courting major controversy in Australia Naomi Campbell has been on high rotation.
In a recent interview on Australia's Morning Show Naomi Campbell turned laughter into the infamous tagline:
"Make a Statement without saying a word"
Naomi Campbell Making a Statement without saying a word

Some might say Naomi Campbell was being mean and snobbish. Then again for fashion bible's Anna Wintour to come out with a cover more synonymous with OK and Hello Magazine, is down right bad form.
Well, no sooner had the fashion faux pas of the century, so far, died down, when Cristiano Ronaldo made global headlines for his scintillatingly sexy cover with model girlfriend Irina Shayk.
I couldn't help tweeting the following:
Scintillatingly Sexy Sophistication of Cristiano Ronaldo's VOGUE Cover with girlfriend Irina VINDICATES Naomi Campbell. "SEXY OVER MESSI" My Words Not Hers;)
