MANDELA's LEGACY is not an ELUSIVE IDEAL, 67minutes or RANDELAS. ITS A WAY OF LIFE!

Democracy in South Africa is perceived as something that is far removed from ones person, one's sense of self, one's very identity.
We easily accept the derogatory, demeaning and divisive jargon of our collective oppression. We eagerly asceed our democratic rights and responsibilities to leaders and "the authorities" and await that they instinctively know our needs and wants and act efficiently and effectively to make our dreams come true.

Essentially we behave like the children of authoritarian rule, that we are.

South Africans cling willingly to our divided past. We proudly sing a National Anthem, a crude gesture of reconciliation that should have been as temporary as Nelson Mandela's term as President of South Africa.
The singing of the "National Anthem" in the rugby stadiums of our nation, reveals glaring and obvious truths that should shame us all to re-evaluate our perception of Mandela's legacy.

Mandela's legacy is like our democracy it stands alone on a pedestal feted into elusive idealism.
In fact Tata Mandela's legacy  is The Idiot's Guide on how we Build a new South Africa,in the spirit and consciousness of custodianship, togetherness, responsibility, playfulness, creativity and humanity.
Mandela's legacy is like any genius concept, it requires regular repeated and sustained action in order to be effective. In other words we need to make a conscious decision to embrace a new way of being
.
We need to usher in a humanistic era. A sense of belonging for all.

Turning a blind eye to the glaring fruits of affirmative actions, over centuries, that gifted minority priviledge and opportunity, is denialism bordering on cruelty. Nothing infuriates more than the denial of one's pain, while one's suffering is dismissed as an acceptable way of life.
We must not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We need to see how our collective experience can serve to benefit us in a symbiotic vision of our future.

Citizens demand that the public sector delivers more effective public services, both collectively and individually. Shareholders demand larger dividends and, at the same time, there are demands that companies make a greater environmental and social efforts. NGO's are required to produce results while also dealing with ever-greater financial needs.
Its not enough today to produce profits, you need a purpose that streches beyond that. It is not enough to work on good causes; you need to do it effectively and better than others.

Its not enough to rely on the State taking care of our needs: WE NEED TO DO IT OURSELVES AS WELL.

Yet today we allow the dividing influences of our past to define our future. The Struggle continues until we all have the same opportunities and basic human rights. We need to belong to a nation where we ARE all BORN EQUAL.
This requires us to heed the example of Nelson Mandela and to study our Constitution and know our potential.
We need to take our power back and become ACTIVE CITIZENS building a society that demonstrates positive and compassionate growth.
We need to make the person matter. Let us explore and bring forth healing, integrating and moving everything forward from a moral ground of integrity, authenticity and honesty.

Build South Africa because South Africa is you.

Just like the National Anthem no longer represents reconciliation but growing resentment and animosity. We South Africans can no longer rest on the laurels of a 95 year old man. He went to exceptional lengths for us. He ensured we build South Africa, not from ruins but on the humanitarian foundation of UBUNTU.

Dig deep unlearn the past and put the future in your hands. 12% is not much for an "official" Opposition, when 40% of the population didn't vote at the last National Elections.
It clearly indicates that people need something new, something different, something that works and something that truelly resonates with UBUNTU.

We have an urgent need for social innovation, making humans the answer and not the problem, while making sustainability an every day reality.
We need the formation of dynamic change makers and learners who can work in holistic ways, focusing on new ways of thinking that are environmentally, financially and socially sustainable.

Love and tolerance is our code.

Remember, No policies or legislation no matter how well constructed will be effective with a government rotten at its core or a wolf in sheeps clothing ready to pull the wool over our eyes and return us to bondage.
"Be the change, you want to see in the world" and then take positive action towards this goal, everyday.
South Africa is still a geographic area where a vast diversity of people co-exist.

South Africa must become a proud and united nation that masters a fluency in human potential.

Mandela and FW de Klerk showed by example what stepping outside conventional thinking can really achieve. Their strengths were in the process of innovation, invention and improvisation.
Don't work and live to expectations. Instead throw far afield. Anything is possible. Once you think it, you can find a way to get there.

 - A human being is part of the whole, called by us "universe"
limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.
This delusion is a prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affections for a few persons close to us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from our prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all humanity and the whole of nature in its beauty.
 - ALBERT EINSTEIN
